Il Bagno Tourist information
Il Bagno is a residential area within the municipality of Marciana Marina, located on the northern coast of Elba Island and in between Procchio, about 4.2 km away and the village of Marciana Marina which is about 2,3 km away. The residential area rises almost above the provincial road, while the beach is well signposted and has a small pedestrian access which crosses the mediterranean vegetation characterized by oak trees and shrubs followed by forty steps leading to the lovely beach.
Behind the beach there are some old fishermen’s houses which have been transformed into accommodations and villas by the sea, while on the strand there is still today the tonnara ( old tuna-fishing nets), decommissioned from 1955, which gives a unique touch to the beach. Then behind the beach you can see the “marfaraggio” (place where tuna is processed and preserved) and cappellina dei pescatori.
Until few years ago the importance of this beach was linked to the tonnara and to a windmill which can be seen still today.
