Description of Ripa Barata beach
The beach of Ripa Barata is located on the northern coast of Elba island, about halfway between the village of Marciana Marina and that of Sant'Andrea. Ripa Barata is a small beach with no services, surrounded by the Mediterranean maquis and characterized by white pebbles in a beautiful seabed.
This unspoiled Cove is uncrowded, because it is difficult to access by land for those unfamiliar with the area: you would in fact need to take a footpath through the Mediterranean maquis and walk for about 10 minutes. The cliff surrounding the bay is very beautiful and not too high, ideal to sunbathe and it offers lovely coves, much appreciated by underwater fishermen and snorkelers.
Access to the beach of Ripa Barata
In order to reach this beautiful and wild beach, it is necessary to drive until the end of Marciana Marina's promenade, where next to the left entrance of Fenicia beach, an asphalt road leads uphill through a pine forest overtaking a viewpoint and then continuing downhill.
From Marciana Marina, you need to drive few more kilometers until you reach a wooden sign which indicates the beach. From there you have to walk down a path through the thick scrub for about 10 minutes.
