Carpani Tourist information
Carpani is an exclusively residential location, thus not a tourist destination and it is located just outside the doors of the town of Portoferraio in Elba Island. Today Carpani is very close to Portoferraio to which it belongs administratively.
Carpani is considered a residential location provided with services and businesses such as: butchery, bakery, stationery, supermarket, petrol station, hardware store, bars, restaurants, mechanic and many other shops.
Carpani extends on the main road that runs through the fraction, where there is also a historical and recreational club which hosts regular events, workshops and exhibitions; the club is in fact an important meeting point for locals.
Curiosity: In the past Carpani was a great vineyard,extending from the hill of Brunello, until the sea where the salt mines of the bay of the ancient Cosmopolis used to start. In the early 1900s the fraction of Carpani begins to animate and in a few years there was a radical transformation of its settlements.
The name Carpani comes from a noble family from Milan who moved to Portoferraio and built their first house. The family was particularly attracted by the great advantages granted by Cosimo I who wanted to populate the newly founded city on the ruins of Fabricia.

In 1921 the recreational and cultural club of Carpani was founded on the initiative of thirty heads of families, who initially were meeting without a fixed place, until they were able to start working on the great building constructed on land donated by Giuseppe Marinari.

From Carpani is possible to reach the nearby beaches of Le Ghiaie and the ones along the coast which extend until Enfola, such as Acquaviva, Capobianco and Sansone.
