Granite Quarries Excursion



Path of about 3,0 km  - Easy route

Starting point: Sport field of San Piero

The path to reach the granite quarries of the San Piero begins near the sports field from San Piero in Campo. From here, we enter the dirt road road that leaves the village slightly downhill to the west. The route runs on dirt roads, so we recommend wearing shoes and clothing suitable for the excursion.

Soon we cross a road that goes to the right toward one of several small granite quarries in the area. We continue our journey along the dirt track that winds flat following the morphology of the terrain. From this point, we can enjoy a beautiful picturesque view over the village of Marina di Campo.

The track meets various crossings with the pathways that lead to the quarries or the cottages are present here. Finally, we come to a small scenic plateau planted with vine and vegetable garden, from which opens a wonderful view of the islands of Pianosa and Monte Cristo. Then we can return to the starting point retracing the outward journey.
