The Ontanelli's foul deed

It must have been around 7 p.m when the fight started and, as often happens, there were initially exchanges of invectives and the two antagonists insulting each other very badly with unspeakable filth.

But soon facts took the place of words: the more the two men were shouting against one another the more they were getting away from each other, and then finally distant, they started to throw stones at each other.

Despite that, none of them ended the offences. On the contrary, one of them touched on a delicate subject and from then on the fight became more violent as the other lost completely control and threw against his antagonist a massive stone; but fortunately he didn't catch him.

But then the feared and arrogant opponent thought he should have better gone away and he did. As a matter of fact, some malicious voices claimed that he left because he had fear; though the most probable reason was that he did it because a massive rainfall was approaching.

 The reason for all this? A chunk of grass stolen by a boy.

The boy did something wrong, but he promised he will never do it again and that he will confess it to the priest.In the meantime the bag with the grass, the corpus delicti, never came back to its original place, and the poor donkey, to whom that grass should have been given that evening, skipped its meal.

Nothing else would have happened if its fiery patron, who was still pretty on fire for the fight, had not vented his anger against the donkey, which was the real cause of the matter. In fact, he went back to the stable and hit the poor innocent creature with a big piece of wood. By that time the donkey had already started feeling hungry and braying loudly, which is probably why he got kicked. In life we know, it doesn't matter sometimes if you are right or wrong, in the end is always the donkey to lose out.
