Still one skeleton

Sunday morning some boys who were playing in a sandpit at Macchioni, behind the new building of the Council Houses, found few pieces of amphora, which once removed brought to light a human skeleton. It was indeed protected by the wreck of the amphora, well actually some amphoras, which after first examination resulted dating back to the roman time.
The skeleton, clearly belonging to an adult of above average build, appears well preserved, protected as it was from the casing of cotto. Local authorities have managed to confiscate the human relics until the arrival of the magistrate who then proceeded with removal.
This is not the first finding of human relics which is carried out in this area: on the contrary, in the immediate vicinity, few months ago had been found another skeleton, without, however, any protection. This time the amphora potsherd allow to make some approximative claim on the age of the burial;though it is better to leave the last word to those who know.
Surely, these burials date back to several centuries ago: by recalling the fact that near the gulf of Campo, Pianosa island hosted some ancient roman temples and treasures of all sorts, some people claim that these were roman burial, maybe of some sailors whose boats had found shelter in the safe gulf of Campo, the nearest dock to Pianosa, though often difficulty.
However, it is very easy to make mistakes. We agree on the fact that it would be better to insist with the excavation facilitated by the nature of the gritty and loose soil, to obtain further findings: though it is necessary to carry out a systematic and cautious work under the guidance of experts, historians and archeologists to reconstruct the history of our land, which is so obscure and incomplete to fall into the most absurd legends.
