Legend of the San Giovanni Tower
The Tower of San Giovanni, the only original military work that dates back to the Middle Age, has inspired various legends that have been passed on over time. It is said that it was built to be a prison for the exiles. According to a legend, Postumius Agrippa, third son of the famous Agrippa, Julia daughter of Octavian and the famous philosopher Seneca were also imprisoned in this tower. Other legends tell that Queen Elba who had a relationship with a Saracen was locked up for life within the walls of this tower.
