Legend of Our Lady of Mount

According to a popular legend, the painting of the Virgin Mary Assumption into heaven realized on a granite block that today is inside the sanctuary, was found by some shepherds of Marciana right at same place where there is the sanctuary of Our Lady of Mount. They brought it to the village in order to preserve it and put it inside the new church that would be built in Campo al Castagno. But miraculously, the holy stone went back to its original place and believers decided to built a recess to venerate it.
