Description of Ortano beach

The beach of Ortano is characterized by fine sand and gravel and it rises in the middle of a narrow bay. An impressive touristic village stands behind the beach, where you can spend your holidays in Elba.
The location is equipped with beach services as rentals of umbrellas, sunbeds in addition to paddle boats, which you can take for a trip to the nearby islet of Ortano. The beach has still some evocative traces of the past mining activities such as the old pier, the mooring rings and the abandoned railway track, which was used for ore carts.

The beach is not popular, therefore it is frequented mainly by guests of the nearby tourist accommodations. The stretch of rocks rising on either side of the beach is ideal for snorkeling.
Passed by sea the islet of Ortano, there is a small cove with a wild tiny beach free of services, which is ideal for those seeking peace and relax at sea.

Access to Ortano beach

From the junction that leads to the villages of Rio nell'Elba and Rio Marina, follow the directions towards Ortano, where a paved road leads down to the car park located in front of Ortano's Touristic Village. Once parked the car, you have to walk for about 300 meters.
