Description of Cala Mandriola beach

The beach of Cala Mandriola is located at the mouth of a ditch, which has created over the years this little corner of paradise. The shore is made up of large boulders, polished stones and smaller gravels. The beach has no facilities, situated in a very beautiful and unspoiled environment, where the only trace of man is an old disused furnace. Behind the shore, it grows a pinewood and a forest of oaks, which shade the beach already in the afternoon during the hot summer days.

Moreover, the stretch of coastline is a great spot for diving and snorkeling

Access to Cala Mandriola beach

From Cavo, you can reach the beach walking along a footpath, marked on the hiking maps with # 60. Alternatively you can drive to the location Solana Alta, located along the road La Parata which connects the villages of Cavo and Rio nell'Elba. From Solana Alta, take a carriageway that is used only for hiking or forestry purpose, and after about 5 minutes walking, you will meet a gate which closes the road. From there, you have to walk about 20 minutes more to reach the beach. In the last part the path joins the one coming from Cavo. As the trail is mostly exposed to the sun, we advise you to wear suitable clothing and take with you enough water during the excursion. Only the last section provides a real shelter in the shade of tall pines and oak trees.
