THE ISLAND OF THE TUSCAN ARCHIPEL
The Tuscan archipel consists of seven islands: Elba, Capraia, Giglio, Giannutri, Gorgona, Montecristo and Pianosa, and extends from the Tyrrhenian coast to the coast of Corsica. Corsica is in the days when the sky is clear most highly visible from the west coast of Elba.
The Tuscan Archipel is a fascinating place for all seasons where nature still dominates. Immerse yourself in history and take a trip on one of the islands.
MONTECRISTO ISLAND: The Island of Montecristo is part of the Tuscan Archipel, the surface is 1.039 ha and the coast is 16 km long and is located about 45 km from Elba away. It is a nature reserve since 4 March 1971. Montecristo is one of the municipality of Portoferraio, and thus the province of Livorno.
PIANOSA ISLAND: The island of Pianosa is only 7 km away from the tip of Fetovaia and is therefore reached in 35 minutes by boat. Day trips to the island of Pianosa depart from the port of Marina di Campo in Campo nell'Elba.
